Today we are sharing one of our dance teaching ideas to go along with the book, "I Need My Monster" written by Amanda Noll, and illustrated by Howard McWilliam.

This is a really fun book about a child that needs to go to bed, but finds out that his regular monster is out of town. There are five different monsters that visit, and none of them can compare to his regular monster. This book is filled with descriptive language and would be so fun to teach with in the month on October.

In the printable we are sharing three different ideas for dance class, with printable visual aids and worksheets included.

Idea: Create your own monster

For this lesson students will be creating their own monster using a mad lib style worksheet to describe their monster. Students will then have to bring their monster to life through dance.

We hope this idea is something you can use this month in your dance classes. In this month of "scary monsters" this book is a great way to reframe something negative and turn it into a positive.

Happy October friends! Keep Dancing!
