Next week is NHSDA’s Love Your Body Week, and it’s the perfect time to help your dancers pause, reflect, and celebrate everything their amazing bodies can do! This week isn’t about perfect lines, high legs, or flawless turns — it’s about gratitude, self-acceptance, and body kindness.
To make it easy to bring those ideas into your classroom, we’ve created a free printable reflection worksheet to pair with the beautiful book Every Body by Megan Madison, Jessica Ralli, & Tequitia Andrews. This simple activity gives dancers space to think deeply about what makes their bodies strong, capable, and unique — all while connecting those ideas back to their dance training.
About the Book
If you haven’t shared Every Body with your students yet, it’s a gem. The book celebrates body diversity, kindness, and confidence with inclusive illustrations and empowering messages. It reminds readers that every body is different, and every body deserves respect — which makes it a perfect companion for Love Your Body Week.
Whether you read the book aloud to younger students or display pages as prompts for your older dancers, it’s an easy and meaningful way to spark conversation about what it truly means to love and care for our dancer bodies.
How to Use the Reflection Page
Here’s how you might incorporate the printable into your class next week:
Start with the Book: Read or summarize Every Body with your dancers. Ask what stood out to them, what made them smile, or what they related to.
Reflect and Write: Pass out the reflection page. Dancers can write or draw in response to prompts like:
“Something I love that my body can do is…”
“A way I can take care of my body is…”
“My favorite movement that makes me feel strong is…”
This is a quiet, thoughtful time — let the studio energy slow down and give them a chance to think about what really matters.
Share and CelebrateInvite a few dancers to share something they wrote or drew. Emphasize that everyone’s answers are valid and beautiful — because everyone’s relationship with their body is personal and evolving.
Display the LoveYou can even hang their reflection pages on a wall or bulletin board for a few weeks to keep the positivity going!
Why It Matters
As dance teachers, we know how much of our students’ confidence is tied to how they feel in their bodies. Love Your Body Week is a chance to shift the focus — from how we look in the mirror to how we move, express, and grow.
This printable is a simple but powerful way to encourage that shift. Pair it with Every Body, add a little heart-to-heart discussion, and you’ll give your dancers something that lasts long after class ends — a reminder that their bodies are incredible, just the way they are.
Download your free reflection page and make Love Your Body Week meaningful, empowering, and full of heart.
