Hi Friends! Have you been vacationing or spending more time at the pool than you planned this summer? All of this extra fun cuts in on the time we have to prepare for dance class. This week I am sharing our "Summer Movement Cards." They are a great way to shake things up, and the only prep you need to do is print them out.
A few ways I like to use movement cards:
-Pull out one card at a time and let your class move around the room like the card you pulled out.
-Scatter the cards around the room facedown, and when the music stops, students stop at a card. They pick up the card, look at it, and when the music starts again they dance like that card.
-Set up an obstacle course with the cards.
-Assign a card to each wall of the room you are teaching in. Students have to dance like the card along that wall until they get to the next wall/card.
-Give a small group of students 1-3 cards and have them choreograph a dance with the movements on their cards.
There are countless ways that movement cards can be used, and I hope that you put them to work! Keep enjoying your summer days, and leave your dance worries behind.
Keep Dancing!
Whitney
